Wool bedding isn't rare—you can find it from dozens of brands. But not all wool bedding is created equal.

Here's 5 things that sets us apart from every other brand you're considering.

about the product

What can I use the futon for?

A futon is very versatile. Most commonly, it's used as a Japanese-style floor mattress for sleeping directly on the floor or a low base — a soft, supportive 4cm wool layer that feels substantial without being bulky. It also works as a meditation or prayer mat, a daytime floor couch, a child's sleeping mat for sleepovers, or as an additional layer on top of an existing mattress for extra cushioning. Its 2,000 gr/m² wool fill — the equivalent of two adult sheep's worth of wool — gives it the substance to perform across all these uses.

How is the futon different from a topper or underblanket?

A topper and an underblanket are both designed to sit on top of an existing mattress to enhance it — the topper for cushioning, the underblanket for warmth.

The futon is designed as a standalone surface in its own right. You can sleep, sit, meditate, or rest directly on it without needing a mattress underneath. While the topper is slightly thicker at around 6 cm, the futon's 4 cm of densely packed wool — gives it the substance and structure to work as a complete sleeping surface rather than just an added layer.

What does it feel like to sleep on?

The futon is built around a 2,000 gr/m² Texeler wool fill, with a winter-side wool fleece blended with cashmere fibres for a satin-soft feel, and a cotton underside for cooler use. The wool fibres provide gentle, even cushioning across the body — softer than a firm mattress but supportive enough to keep the spine aligned. Sleepers often describe the feel as "embracing" rather than "sinking" — wool's natural resilience means the futon shapes to your body without losing its loft or flattening over time.

Who is the futon best suited for?

It's a great choice for anyone drawn to floor-style sleeping, minimalist setups, or natural-material alternatives to conventional mattresses. It's also genuinely useful as a flexible second sleeping surface — for guest beds, children's sleepovers, a daytime reading or meditation spot, or simply as an extra layer when you want to soften a firm mattress. If you're after the natural temperature regulation, moisture-wicking, and pressure relief that wool delivers, the futon is the most concentrated form of that experience in our range.

Practical information

About Sizing

I need a queen/king size - do you have that?
Our standard sizes are European (measured in cm), but we understand not everyone measures that way!

Need a queen? King? Something custom? Email us at info@warmwool.eu with your bedding size, and we'll make sure you get the perfect fit. We customize to any size you need.

(We do not make custom pillows)

About Product Maintenance

Do I have to wash the bedding once in a while?
No. Wool has natural self-cleaning properties, so Texeler bedding requires virtually no maintenance. However, we recommend airing your bedding outdoors occasionally to keep it fresh.

Why can't I wash my bedding in the washing machine?
We strongly advise against machine washing most Texeler products. Machine washing strips away the natural lanolin (wool fat) that gives our bedding its exceptional properties—temperature regulation, moisture-wicking, and antibacterial protection.

Rest assured: all wool is thoroughly cleaned before processing using specialized techniques that preserve the beneficial lanolin.

For daily maintenance: Simply spot-clean any stains as needed or air your bedding outdoors monthly.

Need a washable option? Our Washable Wool Comforter is specially treated to be machine-washable at 40°C without compromising its natural benefits—ideal for families with children or those who prefer the convenience of machine washing.

Damage from accidents, improper use, or improper care (such as machine washing products that aren't designed for it) isn't covered.
