PRODUCTS & MATERIALS
Texeler wool comes from a specific sheep breed that has lived on Texel for over 200 years, and the fibers themselves have proven superior characteristics.
Unique Fiber Structure:
Texeler wool has an exceptionally high crimp (natural wave pattern in the fibers), making it more voluminous and resilient than standard sheep wool. This crimped structure creates more air pockets for insulation while maintaining incredible springiness—the wool bounces back to its original shape even after compression, which is why your bedding will never go flat.
Climate-Adaptive Properties:
The island's harsh maritime climate—with temperature swings from -5°C winters to 35°C summers—has forced these sheep to develop wool that naturally regulates temperature in both extremes. The fibers evolved to insulate against freezing winters while remaining breathable in scorching summers. This adaptation transfers directly to your bedding, creating year-round comfort.
High Lanolin Content:
Texeler wool contains more lanolin (natural wool oil) than standard breeds. This gives it a softer hand-feel while providing natural antibacterial and self-cleaning properties. The high lanolin content is why our wool stays fresh longer and resists odors without chemical treatments.
Superior Durability:
The combination of high crimp, strong fibers, and natural elasticity makes Texeler wool exceptionally durable. Where standard wool bedding lasts 10-15 years, Texeler wool maintains its structure and performance for 20-30+ years.
No. The "itchy wool" association comes from coarse wool sweaters, not premium bedding-grade wool.
WarmWool products use fine-fiber Texeler sheep wool that's been carefully sorted, carded, and de-dusted. The wool never touches your skin directly—it's encased in soft cotton, satin, or tencel covers. What you feel is the luxurious cover fabric, not the wool itself.
Additionally, our de-dusting process removes microscopic particles that can cause irritation, making our bedding safe even for people with sensitive skin.
No—this is one of the biggest misconceptions about wool.
Wool doesn't trap heat like synthetic materials or down. Instead, it actively regulates temperature by absorbing and releasing moisture. When you're warm, wool wicks away perspiration and allows heat to escape. When you're cool, it provides insulation by trapping warm air in its natural crimp.
This is why our 4-season duvets work year-round. The same duvet that keeps you warm in January keeps you comfortable (not overheated) in July.
Hot sleepers often find wool bedding transformative because it prevents the overheating-then-shivering cycle common with synthetic duvets. You stay at a consistent, comfortable temperature throughout the night rather than waking up sweating or freezing.
If you're specifically a hot sleeper, we recommend the Ultimate Best Duvet or Tencel Duvet—both designed for maximum breathability and lightweight comfort.
Each cover material offers a different feel and benefits:
Percale Cotton:
Crisp, cool, and breathable—like luxury hotel sheets. It has a matte finish and gets softer with every wash. Best for hot sleepers, those who prefer a "fresh sheet" feeling, and anyone who finds satin too slippery.
Satin:
Silky-smooth with a subtle sheen and luxurious drape. It feels more indulgent against skin and has a warmer, cozier hand-feel. Best for those who love tactile luxury, cold sleepers, and anyone seeking a five-star hotel experience.
Tencel:
Made from sustainably sourced eucalyptus fibers. Naturally hypoallergenic, smoother than cotton, and exceptionally gentle on sensitive skin. Moisture-wicking and eco-friendly. Best for eco-conscious buyers, those with skin sensitivities, and anyone drawn to innovative sustainable materials.
All three are high-quality, certified fabrics. The choice comes down to personal preference: Do you want crisp (Percale), silky (Satin), or sustainable-smooth (Tencel)?
Our 4-season duvets are actually TWO separate duvets that attach together with a zipper system, giving you three different warmth levels for year-round comfort.
Here's how it works:
Summer Configuration (250 gr/m²):
Use the lightweight duvet alone
- Perfect for warm weather
- Breathable and cool
- Ideal for temperatures above 20°C
Spring/Autumn Configuration (450 gr/m²):
Use the medium-weight duvet alone
- Comfortable for mild weather
- Balanced warmth
- Ideal for temperatures 15-20°C
Winter Configuration (700 gr/m²):
Zip both duvets together
- Maximum warmth and insulation
- Cozy for cold nights
- Ideal for temperatures below 15°C
The Benefits:
Instead of buying three separate duvets (summer, spring/fall, winter), you get all three warmth options in one purchase. Simply zip or unzip based on the season or your personal temperature preference.
All our 4-season duvets use the zipper attachment system, so you can easily attach and detach layers in seconds without any hassle. The secure zipper connection also keeps both pieces aligned inside your duvet cover—no shifting, bunching, or midnight readjusting.
This modular design means you'll never need to store bulky winter duvets in summer or buy multiple sets—just adjust your warmth level as the seasons change.
Yes. Wool is naturally hypoallergenic for several reasons:
1. Dust Mite Resistant:
Wool regulates moisture and temperature in ways that create an inhospitable environment for dust mites. These microscopic pests thrive in warm, humid conditions—exactly what wool prevents.
2. De-Dusted Processing:
We're the only Dutch sleep brand that de-dusts our wool, removing microscopic particles that can trigger allergies. This makes our bedding safe even for people with dust allergies.
3. Breathable & Moisture-Wicking:
Wool prevents the damp conditions where mold, mildew, and bacteria grow. It stays fresh and clean naturally.
4. Chemical-Free:
Our products contain no synthetic chemicals, flame retardants, or harsh treatments that can cause reactions.
However, note: If you have a true wool allergy (rare, affecting less than 1% of people), our products aren't suitable. But if you're allergic to dust mites, down, or synthetic materials, wool is often the perfect alternative.
Yes, there's a mild, natural wool scent when you first unpack your bedding—and honestly, that's part of the charm.
Fresh Texeler wool has a subtle, earthy smell from lanolin (the natural oil in wool). It's not unpleasant or overpowering, just natural. Some customers describe it as a "clean countryside" scent—you immediately know this came from real grazing sheep, not synthetic fibers from a factory.
This natural scent is actually something many people appreciate. It's tangible proof you're getting genuine real wool, not mass-produced alternatives. There's something reassuring about bedding that smells like it came from nature, not a chemical plant.
As you use your bedding, the scent becomes less noticeable—your nose adjusts, and the wool settles into your home environment. If you want to speed this along, airing it outdoors helps, but most people find the scent pleasant or barely notice it after the first few nights.
The long-term advantage:
Once your bedding is in regular use, wool's natural lanolin actually prevents odors from developing. Unlike cotton or synthetic materials that absorb sweat and smells, wool stays remarkably fresh without frequent washing. The same properties that give it that initial natural scent also keep it clean and odor-free over decades of use.
So yes, it smells like real wool—because it is real wool. And for most customers, that's exactly what they're looking for.
