Frequently Asked Questions
Topper: Goes on top of your mattress (under your fitted sheet) to add cushioning and softness. Transforms a too-firm or old mattress into plush comfort without buying a new bed.
Underblanket: Goes on your mattress under your bottom sheet. Adds a layer of warmth and moisture-wicking protection. Think of it as an invisible comfort upgrade that also protects your mattress.
Futon: A standalone portable wool mattress/cushion. Use it on the floor, on a bed frame, as a guest bed, meditation mat, or extra seating. Multi-purpose and moves with you.
Simple way to remember:
- Topper = comfort upgrade for your mattress
- Underblanket = warmth layer + mattress protection
- Futon = portable standalone bedding
No — and this is where wool differs from synthetic alternatives. Texeler wool naturally regulates temperature, absorbing excess heat and moisture when you're warm and retaining warmth when you're cold. Rather than making your bed hotter, it makes it more consistently comfortable throughout the night and across different seasons.
Our wool mattress toppers add approximately 5cm to the height of your mattress. The underblanket adds a much slimmer layer — thin enough to fit comfortably under your fitted sheet without affecting the overall feel or height of your bed in any meaningful way.
Yes. Texeler wool is naturally hypoallergenic and resistant to dust mites, mold and allergens without any chemical treatment. Unlike synthetic mattress toppers and underblankets which can harbour allergens over time, wool's natural properties actively create a cleaner, healthier sleeping environment — making it an excellent choice for allergy and asthma sufferers.
Texeler wool's natural lanolin content gives it inherent antibacterial properties, meaning it resists odours and bacteria without regular washing. For most sleepers, occasional airing outside is all that's needed to keep these products fresh. If deeper cleaning is required, we recommend specialist dry cleaning. Always check the care label on your specific product before washing.
Not strictly, but a wool enhancer extends your mattress's lifespan by protecting it from wear, body oils, and moisture. It also adds a layer of natural temperature regulation — worth considering even on a quality mattress, especially if you run hot or cold at night.
